Once the community research or scan is complete, one or several priorities will begin to emerge.
These priorities could range from those that are very broad such as the need for a community vision, to those that are more narrowly-focused or project-based. For example, trail development, youth initiatives, health promotion etc.
Defining the priorities will also help determine the planning approach and the type of plan needed. Plans also vary from those that are very broad to those that are more focused.
The graphic below provides a summary of the different types of plans and descriptions.
