Five Finger Decision Making Technique

When a group have discussed all aspects of an opportunity or strategy, a five-finger decision developed by Michael Wilkinson and shared in his book The Secrets of Facilitation can be utilized. Each person puts up the number of fingers to indicate their support for the opportunity.

1 Finger  

Strongly disagree and won't support

 

2 Fingers 

Disagree

 

3 Fingers

Can see plus and minuses, willing to go along with the group

 

4 Fingers

Agree

 

5 Fingers

Strongly Agree
